What an Amazing mural! I had the wonderful experience of getting to work with the CEO Buddy Edgeman at the Beacon Lighthouse for the blind on this mural. When I was approached to do this project for the Wichita Falls Alliance for Art and Culture Eastside Mural Program, I was a bit unsure of the goal of such a project. I had so many question, as I know you do, but after meeting with Buddy and some of his employees their main goal was to bring awareness to all the good that they do for the blind and visually impaired community. See, at Beacon they bridge the gap of the 70% unemployment rate for blind and visually impaired individuals by employing them and giving them personal and economic independence. To be able to tell their story and hear from his employees about how much pride knowing that this mural is a billboard and mega phone for their non-profit was the bees knees. I am so honored to have been able to work with them and I have made many lifelong friends. Here are some photos of the project.
